The only intention of Honda’s K-Series Intake Air Bypass Control Thermal Valve is to promote quicker engine warm-up.  We aren’t certain of the need for Honda to implement this IABCT Valve as the K engine reaches operating temperature just as quick as any standard engine, but maybe it helps in extremely frigid locations?!?  Whatever the case may be, once your K-Series coolant reaches 160 degrees, this valve is no longer doing a dang thing but getting in the way.
